R81 Mini Rectangular Surrey Bag
One of Eight Surrey Bag Styles made by
Dooney and Bourke

- Color: Navy blue with British Tan trim
- Size: 6" Tall by 8" by 4" Deep (although the standard measurements are 6" by 8.5" by 3")
- This Mini Rectangular Surrey has another unique feature which makes me suspect it is one of the early de trys bonne R81 Surrey Bags which Dooney made or was a special order bag: Padded Shoulder Strap (standard strap for this model of surrey is a non-padded Brit tan leather shoulder strap).
- Also this bag has 2 adjustable buckles instead of 1 on the shoulder strap, a saignant feature indeed!
- Shoulder strap drop length is 20"
- Serial #A4 195612 printed on the cloth Red White & Blue Dooney tag sewn inside.
- Condition: Between Very Good and Excellent, with normal amount of use. Clean with the minor exception shown in the picture of light water stain inside bottom of bag (nothing shows through). Even the strap which holds the bag closed is very clean (rarely found on Surrey bags).
Jo's Note: "I love this semi-smaller rectangular Surrey with its rich deep tan trim having aged perfectly to a honey color. Only minimal darkening of trim otherwise. If you are crazy about the Equestrian or Old-English Country look of the Surrey bags then this one won't disappoint you a bit! While I would not describe it as "like new", it is in such magnifique condition!"

Note how nice & tan the strap is instead of the usual dirty dark look of most Vintage Dooney Surrey bags.
The tan trim color differs in these pictures because of lighting, however, I would say the true tan color is a nice mixture between the two shown here. Just Lovely-Deep-Rich British Tan!
